A must-read for anyone working with kids, whether in the classroom, home or kids ministry. Dr. Stafford shares his own childhood experiences and how they shaped his life and led him to start Compassion Int., a ministry that sponsors disadvantaged children all over the world.

Dandelion on my Pillow, Butcher Knife Beneath by Beth Thomas

Nancy Thomas, along with her adopted daughter, Beth, shares the incredible stories of the many RAD kids she has worked with during her many years as a therapeutic foster mom.

                  When Love is Not Enough

The Hardest Peace, by Kara Tippets

If you haven't already heard about this book or read it, then you are missing out. Kara, a wife and mother of 4, is dying from cancer. She doesn't make any bones about it, and she doesn't try to offer cheap platitudes. Rather, she shares her story of how she learned to find grace and beauty among the ugly and the fear. I have a feeling I will definitely be coming back to reread this book.

One Thousand Gift, by Ann Voskamp

Ann, an Ontarian farmers wife, shares her journey of how she learned to find Beauty in the everyday. The book jacket sums it up so well, "'How.' Voskamp wondered, 'do we find joy in the midst of deadlines, debt, drama and daily duties? What does a life of gratitude look like when your days are gritty, long, and sometimes dark? What is God providing here and now?'" I've had this book for awhile now and only recently got around to finishing it. I will be holding onto it for when I need a reminder to see God in the everyday.
